Spiritual Care

At Hospice & Palliative Care of Washington County, we understand that during life’s most intimate transition, nothing should be left unfinished. We have found that spiritual support enhances the time patients, families and friends have together, deepens awareness of life's meaning, inspires confidence and brings peace.

We believe that spirituality is at the core of what it means to be fully human, and therefore, that all persons are spiritual persons. We recognize that among spiritual persons, some are religious and some are not. We affirm that all spiritual traditions will be respected in our caring, as will persons who have no chosen spiritual tradition.

Always, our commitment of support for patients and families is primary in our spiritual care, which includes respectful visits, thoughtful reflection and requested prayer.  Together we will create a spiritual care plan to address your concerns and beliefs. We will contact a local congregation of your chosen faith community, if you wish, and request visitation and spiritual support. Together with patients and families we will create a spiritual care plan to address your concerns and beliefs. If you are not active in a local faith community, or if you desire Chaplain visits in addition to congregational care, our Spiritual Care Team will make every effort to provide support.

Our Spiritual Care Team is ready to accompany you on this sacred and intimate transition.
